Jono, wife Kelly and their 2 children are 50/50 share milking 500 cows at Tussock Creek. They also have business interests in another 700 cows 50/50 position. Coming from a town background in Wellington Jono has been dairy farming now with more than 20 years’ experience. The Bavin’s are Southland/Otago’s 2015 Share farmer of the year where they also took home 5 merits and the National Environment merit award.
Jono brings a range of skills to the table, he has a sound financial understanding of budgets and accounts, strategic planning and most importantly a practical and common-sense approach to problems.
Roles currently held within the dairy industry include Chairman Telford farm board, Trustee of the Southern Dairy Development Trust, National executive member for the Dairy Industry Awards. He is passionate about the agriculture sector and the development and education of young people.
